    All About Chevrolet Trooper



    The Isuzu Trooper was a mid-size SUV produced by the Japanese automaker Isuzu between 1981 and 2005. It was exported worldwide as the Isuzu Bighorn, Isuzu Trooper, Isuzu Trooper II , Isuzu Caribe 442, Acura SLX, Chevrolet Trooper, Subaru Bighorn, Honda Horizon, Opel/Vauxhall Monterey, Holden Jackaroo, and Holden Monterey.

    There were two generations of Trooper, 1981-1991 and 1992-2005, after which Isuzu ceased exporting the model. It began production as a rather basic and somewhat underpowered on- and off-road vehicle, offered only with 4 cylinder motor, 5 speed manual transmission, and part-time four-wheel drive. The first generation evolved to add both amenities and luxuries, including optional air-conditioning, power windows, and a more powerful V6 engine. The second generation was more refined yet, available in two-wheel drive as well as four.

    The first generation Trooper was available as a 2 or 4 door, with a solid 4.555:1 rear axle and an independent front suspension. Early engines included 2.0 L 1.9 L and a 2.2 L diesel, lightly powered even by early 1980s standards for the vehicle's 3,700 lb (1,678.3 kg) empty weight. The four-wheel drive system was engaged by operating a three-position shifter adjacent to the transmission shifter. Both Aisin manual-locking and Isuzu's own auto-locking hubs were employed. In 1986, Isuzu introduced a 112 PS (82 kW; 110 hp) 2.3 L engine, regarded as an improvement over the previous engines.

    In 1987 Isuzu introduced a 2.6 L (4ZE1) V-tech fuel-injected engine. An optional General Motors 2.8 L pushrod V6) borrowed from the Chevrolet S-10 pickup was also available. Manual transmission equipped models had a gear driven transfer case with a 2.28:1 low range ratio; models equipped with the 2.6 L four-cylinder engine and automatic transmission had a 2.66:1 low range transfer case. Later first-generation models offered an optional four-speed automatic transmission. . Models from 1988-1991 were equipped live rear axles and 4-wheel disc brakes. Also new in 1987 were rectangular headlights.

    Overseas model engines not released in the United States included the Isuzu C223 (2.23 litre), C223T (turbocharged 2.23 litre) and in the late 80's turbocharged 4JB1-T engine (2.8 L diesel straight-4 engines.


    In 1989 only, a short wheelbase (90") Isuzu Trooper was imported to the US market as the Trooper. All of these short wheelbase Troopers were equipped with 2.6 L fuel injected 4-cyl engines, 4.77:1 differential gears and 31"x10.5 tires mounted on 15"x7" aluminium alloy "snowflake" pattern wheels. Automatic and manual transmissions were offered.

    In Central America Troopers were offered with removable roofs and a higher wheel clearance. Powertrain options included the Isuzu 2.8 L turbo diesel.

    Permasalahan seputar chevy trooper diesel :
    1. Start berat --------------------------------> dinamo stater sudah tua atau groundnya sudah jelek
    2. Bunyi duk-duk-duk------------------------> kaki-kaki, karet body waktunya ganti, bisa juga dari
    engine mounting yang sudah waktunya ganti
    3. Aki sering tekor----------------------------> bisa dari aki, dinamo atau regulator (cut out/ketot) udah
    waktunya di periksa
    4. Panel instrumen suka nyala sendiri------> wah kalo ini ga tau, udah coba nyari tapi belum ketemu2

    Tips buat yang mau engine swap:
    Mesin c223 memang pas sekali engine mountingnya dengan mesin 4jb1 atau 4jb1-tc yang dipake sama isuzu elf. tapi para troper mania ada juga yang make 4jg2t. Agar nantinya setelah swap engine ga susah cari part ada baiknya coba dulu dilihat tipe isuzu apa aja yang resmi ada di Indonesia:
    1. ELF NKB5SC --------> 4JB1 2.8L (Naturally Aspirated/Non Turbo)
    2. ELF NKC5SF --------> 4JB1-TC 2.8L (Turbo)
    Keduanya Plug n Play dengan Mounting trooper dan yang beredar di Indonesia adalah yang timing gear bukan timing belt.soalnya ada juga mesin 4jb1/t impor yang pake timing belt, takutnya susah cari spare part timing beltnya....

    selain itu ada juga mesin-mesin berikut tapi ga tau plug and play apa plug and pray?
    1.ELH NKB5WC-------------> 4BE1 3.6L
    2.ELF NKC5SF------------------> 4HF1 4.2L
    3.ELF NKC5WF ----------------> 4HG1-T

    Permisi om momod,
    gw baru dapet Trooper '87 kondisi standar n adapun yg ingin gw tanyain, yakni :
    > Beda jarak (wheelbase) Trooper Tipe short dgn Long yg 3 pintu..?? coz punya gw 3 pintu, klo diliat agak panjang jarak wheelbasenya.. tapi di STNK tertulis keterangan JEEP S.C.HDTP
    > mohon rekomendasi bengkel per / kaki2 diseputaran Jakarta Timur yang bisa bangun / ninggiin..??

    bengkel kaki-kaki kayanya ada yang rekomen di daerah pondok bambu
    tapi itu berdasarkan browsing aja di forum sebelah bukan pengalaman pribadi
    coba aja browse di forum kaki-kaki

    tapi itu berdasarkan browsing aja di forum sebelah bukan pengalaman pribadi
    coba aja browse di forum kaki-kaki
    setelah melalui pengamatan & penyelidikan, Trooper milik saya positif tipe Long 3 pintu, perbandingan dgn tipe short saya ukur kaca smping blkng (kaca geser) :
    > tipe long : lebar kurang lebih 1.5 meter
    > tipe short : lebar kurang lebih 1 meter.

    @ stompbox: bengkel Fiddoh daerah mana ya..?? maklum nubie.. he3x.. sampe skrng sih belum diapa2in tuh kaki2nya.. pinginnya sih dibangun versi ALTO biar gak terlalu cupu.. soalnya klo langsung versi OFFROAD gak kuat beli ban MT_nya... he.3x.. iya dsini sepi banget... perlu kerja keras buat ngomporin rekan2 modcom lainnya..;p

    minta rekomendasi dung ane mau repair n restore body tapi gak tau bengkel yang bisa spesialis nangani body trooper, coz udah agak parah di talang air, titik2 dudukan body, n sepatbor beakang mulai berkarat dimakan usia...hehe.

    versi ALTO yg gw maksud cuma sebatas pake ban ukuran antara 30 - 31 All Terrain/ kembangan halus plus sdikit tambahan accesoris kaya roof rack. Klo misalkan kudu pake ban uk. 32 keatas plus kembangan kasar... manteb duitnya... he.3x...

    kira2 budgetnya brapa tuh om buat nge_upgrade kaki standar trooper 87..??
